Burrell Theatre Drama workshops

Beauty & The Beast

We will be running a two day workshop at Truro School’s Burrell Theatre:

Date: 2nd – 3rd April (Both days must be attended)

Time: 0830-1700.

Age range: 7-13 years old.

COST: The cost of the camp will be £65 for two days.

Bookings for this will go live on the website 1st March at 10am

A theatre workshop based on the famous fairy tale ‘Beauty and the Beast’ exploring the characters using dialogue, dance, ensemble work and physical theatre which will create a performance of the story. This workshop will give your child the opportunity to make friends, have fun playing drama games and theatrical exercises and also develop some great drama skills led by our experienced team within the Burrell Theatre at Truro School.

There will be an opportunity on the second day to make some props and pieces of costume to use in the performance. Some stage make-up may also be used so please advise of any allergies when signing your child in. Your child does not need any previous dancing or acting experience, just a willingness to be part of an ensemble and have fun! Their work will be showcased in a small performance at the end of the second day enhanced by the use of sound and lighting for parents and carers and we would ask that the children wear a base costume of a black top and trousers please.

I have taught Dance, Drama and English for 25 years. I work in collaboration with Dance and Drama schools leading Musical Theatre clubs in local primary schools resulting in community productions. I also lead and develop Drama workshops in various schools and outside of the school environment. I have my own business Karmadrama in which I offer bespoke, pre-planned workshops, parties and productions for young people. I am an examiner for AQA Drama GCSE and a practitioner at The Minack Theatre.

The Burrell Theatre is a 170 seat theatre belonging to Truro School.  It benefits from professional lighting and sound kit and is run by a Theatre Manager and a Technical Services Manager.  We also have a workshop space, a technical store, and a wardrobe and props store.  The theatre is used for school productions, a wide range of school events, and also hosts a variety of external professional shows.

Experienced staff will supervise children throughout the day. All employees are required to have passed a DBS check before being employed with the programme. They are responsible for the health and welfare of all children. If a child is feeling unwell, the staff will contact the parent or guardian as soon as possible.

Children should arrive at the Burrell Theatre for registration between 0830-0845. All children should be collected from the Burrell Theatre between 1645-1700. If you need to collect you child earlier please let us know. If you collect your child/children after 1700 there will  be a £5 charge per child.
